Second International Workshop on Forensic Linguistics/Language and the Law

The Second international workshop on Forensic Linguistics/Language and the Law: present dimensions and new perspectives and challenges is a  one-day conference event which will take place on the occasion of the official opening of ForensicLab to be held on July 9, 2010. The Workshop's aim is manifold: a) to bring together scholars who work on different areas of the discipline (forensic phonetics, authorship studies, court translation and interpreting, and the intersection of law, language and cognition); b) to strengthen our support to the IDEC-IULA Master's degree in Forensic Linguistics offered at UPF and c) to foster centre-twinning relations among several of the most competitive centres around the world: the Centre for Forensic Linguistics at Aston University, the Center for the Study of Law, Language and Cognition at Brooklyn Law School, the Centre for Language and Communication Research at Cardiff University, the Department of Language and Linguistic Science at York University, the Laboratorio de Acústica Forense de la Policia Científica and ForensicLab at Universitat Pompeu Fabra.
