Presentation

The Multilingual Vocabulary of Biofuels is a project developed by the Institute for Applied Linguistics (IULA) from Pompeu Fabra University within the framework of the ongoing cooperation with the Pan-Latin Terminology and Neology Network REALITER, which brings together working groups from universities and other institutions that collaborate for the creation of basic terminology resources on emerging topics of general interest in all Romance languages.

In 2011, the Bureau de la traduction of the federal government of Canada promoted, within the REALITER Network, the development of the Panlatin Biofuel Glossary, with 300 terms without definitions and with equivalents in English, French, Catalan, Galician, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Romanian, and which was published online in 2014. The Institute for Applied Linguistics (IULA) was responsible for the Catalan equivalents of this online resource.

Alongside this initiative, the Institute for Applied Linguistics (IULA) launched the elaboration of a vocabulary in Catalan on the same subject, with definitions and equivalents in Spanish, French and English, which is presented here. The search for information, the compilation of a corpus and the initial processing of the terminological data have been carried out within the framework of the subject Terminology Management (21544-20276) of the Translation and Interpreting and Applied Languages studies at Pompeu Fabra University in the 2011-2012 academic year. The IULATERM group (Lexicon and Technology) has been in charge of the reviewing and editing of the dictionary.
