Currently one of the most active and innovative areas of knowledge in the field of the human genome is proteomics, which studies the structure and function of the set of proteins (proteome) that are expressed during the life of a cell.

The Multilingual proteomics vocabulary is a project developed by the Institute for Applied Linguistics (IULA) of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra with the collaboration of the Proteomics Unit of the Center for Genomic Regulation (CGR), and is aimed primarily at students, researchers and linguistic mediators. It is a basic vocabulary in Catalan with definitions and equivalents in Spanish and English, built from the analysis of a corpus of scientific texts.

The creation of the corpus and the initial preparation of terminology resources was carried out by students of the Terminology Management course (21544-20276) of the studies of Translation and Interpreting and Applied Languages at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, in the 2018-2019 academic year. The editing and reviewing work were done by the IULATERM group (Lexicon and Technology). Several researchers from the Proteomics Unit of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and the Center for Genomic Regulation have provided advice on the establishment of the conceptual structure of the vocabulary and the review of the nomenclature and definitions.
